New indoor grow light
It’s getting colder and we are really feeling the winter chill. My marigold has begun to bloom, it’s a beautiful sight to see as it gets colder outside, it’s the perfect pop of color!
All my indoor plants are thriving, the chamomille is extending, the tomatoes are growing and the herbs smell amazing! As I’m gearing up to start seedlings this month I decided tI needed to change up my lights. The original pink light light strips I had didn’t seem to provide sufficient light for many of my plants, resulting in them becoming leggy.
I made a trip to Lowe’s on Friday because I needed to get a new grow light. I ended up buying a Ferry-Morse Indoor Grow Light, it was easy to set up and overall it looks good. This new light is not as bright as the grow light my husband gifted me, I LOVE the grow Feit Electric light. I originally was hoping to find another Feit Electric light but decided on trying the Ferry-Morse light instead. My favorite thing about the Feight Electric Light are the three adjustable color spectrums. It is extremely bright which is great for my plants but also not great if I’m doing something else in the room. This will be my ‘fifth’ grow light purchase, the first two sets were from the seedling trays I bought Spring of last year. The third set of grow lights were LED grow light strips. The grow light strips worked ok however they were not that bright and I needed to use one for each shelf instead of three.
My newest grow light can be picked up and moved easily compared to the large light I have hanging.
Lighting is a bit tricky, although I have a great south-facing window that brings in a lot of light the days are currently shorter. I’m beginning to use the grow light more now that it is full on Winter and I knew I needed to bring in more artificial light. I’m going to be reusing the seedling trays this year. I’m going to try and reuse the grow strips as they were originally intended (3 in one row)to be used. When I initially bought them I had depleted my garden budget and hadn’t thought about having lighting inside (rookie mistake). I’m excited to see how they do. I’m going to begin some seeds this upcoming week and have begun to plant plan!
Let’s see how the light does!
Happy planting!
